Basketball
Social basketball is one of Loftus' most popular sports with close to 100 teams participating in various competitions throughout the week. Our Social Basketball competitions focus on fun, fitness, and fair play for players of all skill levels. Games are fast-paced and ‘competitive’ without being overly serious, making them perfect for casual players, return-to-sport athletes, and mixed-experience teams.
We focus on the social aspect and encourage new teams to sign up, whether you have played before or not, to experience the enjoyment brought through a social competition!
If you do not have a team to join up with but you would still love to join our community, we work with JustPlay. This organisation allows you to register your interest for your chosen sport and when enough individuals register interest, a team is created and added in to the chosen league.
Please note that if the competition is full, registrations will be closed for that league. However, you may contact the Sports Manager to be placed on a standby list for any vacancies that arise.
For any enquiries, please contact the below email address with all necessary information.

Registration Fee: $200
- Your registration fee is $90 and then $110 is a bond. Your bond, paid during registration, will be used to pay for the last 2 games of the season and repurchased each season. This will work out to be 2 discounted game fees for teams, however if not used, you will still have to repurchase the bond when reregistering each season either way.
- As stated in the Ts and Cs, signed when registering, you will not receive these benefits (last 2 game fees at a discounted rate) if you withdraw from the competition at any point or if you are dismissed due to antisocial behaviour. This is a nonnegotiable addition to your registration fee and must be paid in entirety to join the competition.
This must be completed by week 3 of the competition; fill ins can participate in 3 games before they must register to the team, they are still required to manually add in their names on the scoresheets each time. This has been implemented for safety reasons and to ensure we have record of who is entering the competition and venue.
- When registering to your team there is the option to opt for player insurance for $7.50 or no player insurance for $0; either way, an option must be elected.
- This is not required however it is recommended. Please make sure you read the Insurance documentation before purchasing to ensure you are aware of what is covered.
- Game fees MUST be paid prior to the commencement of your game. Any teams that have not paid prior to the commencement will be required to pay during half time. If this is not completed, the game will be stopped until payment has been completed.
Forfeit Fee (Less than 48 hours' notice): Game fee + $15
Forfeit Fee (Less than 2 hours' notice): Game fee + $40
No Show Fee (no communication regarding forfeit/not attending): Game fee x2
All forfeit/no show fees must be paid at the front reception, in conjunction with the game fee for that day, prior to the commencement of your next game.
Forfeiting
- Forfeits are monitored, to ensure everyone is receiving a pleasant experience from this competition and getting enough games. Teams will be limited to 6 forfeits over the span of the season, if your team forfeits more than this, you may not be allowed to register the following season.
- This does not include forfeits due to emergencies and can be discussed with the sports manager.
